Open IPTV Support Topics

Updated: Apr 25

What is this app?

This app is a player for IPTV which is live streaming television and Video On Demand from local and Internet sources. It supports M3U lists and XC (Xtream) Media Server. It does not provide content of any kind.

Is there a difference when using M3U8 and Xtream?

Yes. Xtream is fully supported for Video On Demand and Live streams. For now, M3U8 lists are interpreted as live tv only sources, so every entry in the list is considered a TV channel. In order to use Video On Demand, you need a Xtream server.

How can I add an m3u list?

The first time you open the app, you will be automatically taken to the Sources section of the settings screen.

- Here select the + button or press Y in you game pad to add a new source. Now you will be taken to source type selection screen.

-Select M3U8.

-You will be asked to type a new name for your source. The name can be anything you like.

- After this you can fill the m3u lists text field in the source form, to include the list of m3us you want to use. If your m3u list has a x-tvg-url attribute the EPG information will be retrieved from there or you can optionally specify a list of xmltv files accessible through http in the XMLTV Sources text field.

- Click B to leave the form, you will be asked if you want to save your changes, select 'Yes'. You source will be validated and saved. You can then set your new created source as your current source.

- After adding your source leave the options screen by pressing the Back button (B). The application will restart with your source configured.

- To return to the configuration screen again from the player go to the menu on the left, select "more" and then "configuration".

How can I add an Xtream source?

- Follow the same steps, but instead of selecting M3U select XTREAM. Fulfill the form with your server URL, username and password and then save by pressing B.

How can I change my current source? How can I edit/delete sources?

You can go to menu -> more -> settings to go to the settings screen. In the settings screen select sources, you then will be taken to the sources panel. Here, move to your desired source and press A/Accept, to set as current press the check mark button, to edit press the pen button, to delete press the garbage icon button. You can also use the menu, view and x buttons respectively.

What players power the app?

The default player for live tv is Windows Media Player which is the native player for the Xbox. Alternatively, FFMpeg can be set as player for live tv. For VOD we use VLC player.

How can I change the live tv player?

To change the default player, you can go to the settings screen and then to "Options". Select "Live TV Playback" and then change the default player by using the dropdown menu on the right.

Alternatively, you can individually set the player for specific channels by selecting a channel and then pressing the more button -> player. Then you can set your selection to the specific player you want, or you can use the default.

Does this app need some subscription?

No. This application is just an IPTV player tailored for the Xbox interface that supports M3U lists and Xtream sources. We provide no content of any kind. The Premium Features Add-On is a one-time payment to unlock all the features of the player: unlimited channels and VOD for Xtream sources.

How can I purchase Premium Features Add-On?

Go to configuration-> add-ons and info. Then press the "premium features" button which will take you to the store screen.

What includes the Premium Features Add-On?

The free version of the app only shows the first 500 channels in your source and will only play the first 5 minutes for video on demand. The Premium add-on removes these limitations.

What is the price of the Premium Add-On?

The price depends on your region, and it is a one-time payment. When you click the add-on button you will be taken to the Store, there you can select your payment method and verify the price before you make the purchase, or you can just cancel.

Please try out the free version first to ensure the playback works well with your source both with live streams and VOD, so you are happy with the app before you buy.

How can I enable parental controls?

You can use FILTERING and PIN protection to restrict access to content, but don't rely solely on these features for parental controls.

How can I use the filtering and PIN protection features?

I get an error when purchasing the add-on through the store.

Unfortunately, issues with the store are outside of our control. We don't have a method for purchasing the add-on other than the official one. If you have issues during purchase, please refer to this page where you can find the most common error codes and also reach Xbox support:

I purchased the add-on but still only shows 500 channels.

If you already bought the add-on but the banner still appears in the zapping panel and is only loading the first 500 channels, the license did not register correctly for some reason. This is a rare issue with the store, not the app. Fortunately, a reinstall should solve it.

Please follow these steps:

  • Uninstall the app completely.

  • Restart your Xbox.

  • Ensure that your account is the only one logged in.

  • Install the app again from the store.

My source is not working.

If you are getting an error the message should give you pointer in the right direction about what is the problem. Most of the time it will be a network error, invalid credentials or a temporary problem with the media server. The error log in the troubleshooting screen should give you more details of what the problem is.

If your source was working before and is suddenly not working, most likely your provider/media server is experiencing issues.

I can hear the sound of a live stream, but I only see a black screen. I can see the video of a live stream, but I hear no sound.

It could be that the stream you are playing is not fully compatible with Windows Media Player, which is the default for live tv. You can change the live tv player to FFMPEG as directed above to see if your experience improves.

A live stream is constantly buffering, or it errors out frequently.

You can try changing the default player as directed above, if it is a compatibility issue, your playback may improve. Other than that, the experience you get with the app is dependent on the quality of your source and your ISP (Internet Provider). The app is just a player; a good source with a reliable stream and good Internet connection will give you a good experience, a poor source or internet connection will result in buffering issues and streams erroring out.

Please try out the FREE app with your provider/M3U list/Media Server to ensure they perform together to your satisfaction before purchasing the add-on.

A video on demand stream is constantly buffering, or it errors out frequently.

The answer is largely the same as the one above. You can increase the size of the cache buffer for VLC in the VOD Playback options page to see if that helps with buffering issues.

All movies play but this specific one is not playing at all, what's wrong?

If a movie does not play at all it could be due to an incompatible codec or an invalid URL in the media server. The log should have more info.

Does the player support 4k?

It depends. If a stream uses HEVC with a high color range, it will require more than the 1 gigabyte that apps are constrained to, so we cannot support such streams. For more information send us an email.

I cannot scroll the error log.

The log is intended only for quickly reproducing specific events and figuring out the problem, however if you need to scroll and copy information, you will need to attach an USB keyboard to your Xbox.

I have another problem; I want to give feedback or propose new features.
